A lovely weekend in Dunfermline brought me to visit the Carnegie Halls to watch Rosyth & District Musical Society perform: Sweet Charity:
Find out more about the musical: Sweet Charity
New York dancehall hostess Charity Hope Valentine always follows her heart which usually leads her straight to the wrong kind of man. When she chances upon shy accountant Oscar Linquist she thinks her luck may have finally changed, but life isn’t straightforward and she soon faces a choice between him and her hedonistic past. Based on Federico Fellini’s original screenplay, Coleman and Fields superb musical is brimming full of hit numbers including Big Spender,Rhythm of Life and If My Friends Could See Me Now.
The girl who played lead was fantastic, as were the other key cast. It was obvious that the group is high in numbers and they used this to advantage in the crowd scenes. The set was good, changed quickly and often. The costumes were at time scarily scanty but overall a really enjoyable night at the theatre.
