Disney films are always a draw for the crowd and this gal in particular. I could never pin-point a favourite as it all depends on when and where I watch the movie and with whom. This new slant on the Mary Poppins story had me in tears, both with raw emotion and laughter. Tom Hanks was very believable as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson was an absolute delight as the Australian author of Mary Poppins: P.L. Travers.
The handsome Colin Farrell played his role as the drunken but loveable character of the author’s father, Robert Goff Travers.
His on-screen wife, Margaret Goff is played by Ruth Wilson, while Annie Buckley plays the young writer.
The movie, directed by John Lee Hancock, tells the story of Walt Disney’s (Tom Hanks) campaign to adapt P. L Travers’ (Emma Thompson) novel, Mary Poppins for the big screen.
Unfortunately for Walt, however, Travers isn’t keen on his plans.
Recommend this as a great family film .
