Taking Over the Asylum

Another great night at Citizens Theatre Glasgow.

Posts a bit out of sequence as I have been too busy out enjoying what Glasgow has to offer.

Taking over the Asylum  was an energetic play with a young cast. Each played their part well.

The play was an adaptation of Donna Franceschild’s cult 90’s BBC TV series set in Glasgow.

The soundtrack took the audience back to the 60’s and was thoroughly enjoyable. A bitter sweet story in the unusual setting of a mental hospital where the patients barricade themselves into to save their hospital radio station.

I never saw the TV series so I had nothing to compare the play with.

One thing I did notice that there seemed to be a fair bit of the characters telling, rather than showing their story.

This did not distract from my enjoyment of the play.
